I have been here at Connected as the Lead Pastor since August of 2012. Ok that does not tell the whole story, so let me elaborate.  In 2003 a vision was cast for a church that would truly be for everyone to attend and feel at home. It was to be a place that existed to connect people with God and each other. I heard this vision and I was in. So really I have been a part of Connected since 2003, with a four year sabbatical from 2008-2012.

I grew up here in Carson City, in fact I am 5th generation Nevadan, and I am so glad to be home.

My wife and I were married July 10, 1999 and have been figuring each other out ever since. We have two kiddos that continue to make life interesting everyday. Emma was born in Reno, NV in 2003, making her 6th generation. She loves to read and will one day rule the world. Ellis was born in 2009 in Chico, CA. He is our little social butterfly that has never met someone that was not his friend.
We are an active family that enjoys hiking, camping, beach days and vacationing. When at home we love to entertain and share life with others.

My family and I began attending Connected in August of 2014. In my time with Connected, I have served in various capacities: on the worship team; as a co-youth leader; and, as of February 2017, I now have the privilege of serving Connected as the Associate Pastor. Now that I have established that, how about I tell you a little bit more about myself?

I have been an adult ever since I turned 18 on May 4, 2005 (now you can figure out my age, so you can verify that I am, in fact, an adult – despite my incredibly-short stature). I have been married to my high school sweetheart, Matt, since August 4, 2007. My husband and I have 3 kids (a girl and two boys): Taylor, born Apr. 2009; Colten, born Mar. 2011; and Jackson, born Sept. 2013.

I have lived in northern Nevada just about my entire life. We moved to this area when I was two-years old, to a town called Gardnerville. With the exception of a couple short stints in Fort Worth, TX, this has been my home. I met my husband when I was 16-years old, which was the age I was when I lived in Texas the first time. We met at Northside Nazarene in Watauga, TX and we became best friends. I only lived there a few months before I moved back, but we stayed in touch and eventually began dating, got engaged, got married, and started a family of our own.

Our family is crazy. We are always on the go and there is never a dull moment. Matt and I truly are best friends. We have been best friends since we were 16 and that has not changed. We still prefer each other’s company over anyone else. Matt is hilarious. He makes me laugh so much! He is very quick-witted. Our kids are the best of friends and the worst of enemies all at the same time. They love each other, but can’t stand to be around each other, while also being unable to not be around each other. It’s quite comical. Taylor is incredibly intelligent and she is a smarty pants like you would not believe – has been since she could talk. The worst part is that she has sound logic so arguing with her can be very difficult. Colten is hysterical. He is so funny, but he has no idea that he is funny. He is such a sweet kid. Jackson is a little stinker, but he is adorable and he knows it! He does not put up with much from his older siblings; he cares not that he is the youngest. He handles himself very well considering there is about a foot height difference between him and the other two children.

I am working toward ordination as an Elder in the Church of the Nazarene. I have a heart for ministry – I just want to see people meet Jesus, and I desire to do all I can for even just a chance of someone coming to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. I am genuinely interested in knowing people; not just acquainting with them, but wholly knowing them: their ambitions, their fears, their successes, their failures, what makes them laugh… the things that makes them, THEM. I believe that, in the entire world, there is not a single person who is not special; I believe that everybody has an important story to tell. I believe that, if we allow ourselves the opportunity, we can all learn from each other; because everyone has something worthwhile to teach. If you’d like to know more about me, just ask! I would love the chance to get to know you!
